Katie Marie and Alex enjoy a hunt with me - December 26, 2011

Santa brought all of my children new hunting clothes and the boy's each got their on shot guns. Monday morning, Katie Marie was ready to hunt (she finally had clothes that would allow her to walk in the brairs) Alex took a shot at a rabbit with his new 20 guage pump. He missed, but has the rabbit fever. Hopefully he will have one soon.

New Year's Eve Hunt

Today Josh, Randy, Hogie and I hunted at Loil Branham's farm. We carried 12 dogs. The land was thick in briars, so dogs really had to run hard. Josh killed first, after a really good race. Dogs jumped again, carried the rabbit a long way off, brought it back and Hogie took the kill. 2 rabbits down, dogs are just now getting fired up. We carried them across a creek, found nothing. Brought them back, dogs jumped and I took the kill this time. 3 down and 1 more to come. The dogs split and were running 2 rabbits. The dogs caused the rabbits to cross paths loosing one. The dogs joined on the one rabbit and brought it back to me to take the final kill of the day. On another note...I am glad Hogie is doing well after his accident.

Hogie and Randy discussing the hunt...
or maybe the needed nap.

Alex's first hunt

This morning Randy, Hogie, Alex (my 10 year old son) and I went out. I was proud of Alex on his first hunt!!! We had 3 races and shot 3 rabbits. Dogs ran real good every race. 1st race was about 25 minutes. 2nd and 3rd race about 10 minutes each. Enjoy the pictures.

Rabbit Casserole

The rabbit casserole was delicious. Everyone who ate it wanted more.

Big Cane Cutters

Had a great hunt today with Randy and Hogie. Ran 4 rabbits, killed 2. Getting ready to prepare a great rabbit feast for dinner tonight.
